Description
Runs long-lived terminal commands with output streaming and pagination, manages processes and interactive sessions (SSH, databases, dev servers), executes Python, Node.js or R in memory, reads and edits text, Excel, PDF and DOCX files, and logs tool calls locally for audit. Install with npx @wonderwhy-er/desktop-commander@latest setup, a macOS script, Smithery or Docker for isolation. The local server is free and open source; Desktop Commander Remote MCP (for ChatGPT, Claude web and other remote clients) is free up to 10,000 tool calls a month, with Pro at $20/month for unlimited calls.
