Description
Launched 2026-10-15 per the Xero developer changelog. Agents connect to https://api.xero.com/mcp/v1 and sign in with Xero's normal OAuth 2.0 flow; Xero recommends PKCE apps (no client secret to leak into prompts or configs); web-app tokens work but are discouraged. Each call runs against one organisation; get_connected_tenants lists them. A tool is callable only if the app holds its scope (e.g. accounting.invoices for create_invoice, accounting.reports.trialbalance.read for list_trial_balance). Write tools start with create_, update_, authorise_ or void_. Included at no extra charge for Commercial apps on the Core plan or above; Starter apps can try it with a demo organisation. Data egress, rate limits and connection counts use the normal API limits. Separate from the open-source local xero-mcp server.

Guides & comparisons
- Bookkeeping agent stack (Stack): An agent that reconciles Stripe or Paddle revenue against the books in Xero, reads receipts and statements, and prepares draft entries for an accountant. It runs on read-only credentials, and every write needs a human.
