SPACE (Sandboxed Platform for Agentic Code Execution) is the sandbox platform behind Perplexity Computer, open-sourced in October 2026. Applications use its HTTP API (plus server-sent events for command output) to create Linux sandboxes from templates, run command sessions, collect output, and keep, pause, suspend or delete sandboxes; lifecycle changes are asynchronous operations you poll. Self-hosted: the setup guide deploys it to a local Kind cluster (Kubernetes), with a reference EKS deployment; warm pools and base snapshots cut cold boots. An E2B Compatibility Wrapper (ECW) lets the tested E2B Python SDK talk to it. Written in Rust; 0.8.0 is the public baseline and the API may still change before 1.0. Snapshots, checkpoint and rollback are incubating and hidden unless enabled.
