Description
v2 (main branch, stable line) implements the 2026-07-28 MCP spec; @modelcontextprotocol/server 2.3.1 (Node >=20) is Apache-2.0 on npm. v1.x (@modelcontextprotocol/sdk, MIT, 1.32.1) lives on the v1.x branch and keeps receiving bug and security fixes. The repository LICENSE describes a transition from MIT to Apache-2.0 (new contributions Apache-2.0, docs CC-BY-4.0).
