Unlike wrappers around `kubectl`, it calls the Kubernetes API server directly and ships as a single binary for Linux, macOS and Windows, plus npm (`npx kubernetes-mcp-server@latest`), PyPI (`uvx`) and container images. Works across multiple clusters from your kubeconfig or in-cluster config. Runtime settings are TOML: `read_only = true` only exposes tools annotated read-only, `disable_destructive = true` removes delete/update tools, `toolsets` (default `core`, `config`) adds Helm, Kiali, KubeVirt, Tekton and more, and setting `port` serves Streamable HTTP at `/mcp` (with optional OAuth). For production the README points to a setup guide with a dedicated read-only ServiceAccount.
