Built on the Heroku CLI (v10.8.1 or later required). The recommended way to start it is `heroku mcp:start`, which reuses your existing CLI login so you do not need to expose `HEROKU_API_KEY`; it can also run via `npx -y @heroku/mcp-server` with an API key. Works on the Common Runtime, Cedar Private and Shield Spaces, and Fir Private Spaces. Heroku describes it as in early development, so tools may change.
