Point an MCP client at `https://gitmcp.io/{owner}/{repo}` (or `https://{owner}.gitmcp.io/{repo}` for GitHub Pages) to give an agent that project's documentation (it prioritizes llms.txt, then falls back to README.md and other pages) and code search, or use the generic `https://gitmcp.io/docs` endpoint to let the agent pick the repository per request. Runs in the cloud, states it doesn't store queries or collect personal information, and can be self-hosted. Verified 2026-10-23: the `/docs` endpoint answers MCP `initialize` over Streamable HTTP (server GitMCP 1.1.0). Repo activity has slowed (last push May 2026) but the hosted service is up.
